~the creamy version of toast

I have only recently discovered the salty and sweet combination of peanut butter and jam, and I'm really glad I did. Ever since, I eat my toast, my pancakes and now also my oatmeal this way. It is neither too sweet nor too salty, creamy and warm and takes only a few minutes to prepare, therefore it's one of the best ways to start the morning. And I haven't even mentioned the health benefits yet - if you're an oatmeal lover, this combination is a must!

Ingredients:

✔ 3 tbsp rolled oats

✔ 150 ml water

✔ 100 ml milk of your choice

✔ 1 banana

✔ pinch of salt

✔ 1 tsp salty, creamy peanut butter

✔ 1 tsp jam - I used raspberry, it's a perfect match for the peanut butter

Optional: cinnamon, nuts, almond flakes

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, add 1/2 of the banana to the oats and smash it with a fork.

  2. Add the water and the milk.

  3. Stir continuously on medium heat for about 10-15 minutes or until thickens (you can leave it for more or less based on how creamy you'd like it to be).

  4. Take off the heat and add the salt and peanut butter. Put back on heat and stir for another minute.

  5. When ready, transfer your oatmeal into a bowl and decorate with the other 1/2 of the banana and your favourite toppings.

Enjoy! :)
