~creamy and dark

Drinking hot chocolate in the holiday season has its own magic, especially when its taste is also magical. For me, an enjoyable cup of chocolate means the perfect balance between sweet and bitter, creamy and liquid. This recipe is my favourite, with dark chocolate, milk and and a hint of rum flavour. It really gathers the family around the fireplace and is the perfect taste to sip under the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve - and not only.

Ingredients for 2 portions:

✔ 3 tbsp cocoa powder

✔ 1 tbsp sugar

✔ 10 g bourbon vanilla

✔ 25 g dark chocolate (I used 65%)

✔ 500 ml milk

✔ 2 drops of rum essence

Optional: chopped walnuts, orange zest, whipped cream, cinnamon, dark chocolate

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, mix the cocoa with the sugar. Add 3 tbsp milk and mix until all homogene.

  2. Start warming it on small heat. When the sugar is dissolved, add the rest of the milk.

  3. Stir continuously on medium heat for about 10 minutes or until hot (check with the tip of your finger).

  4. Add the dark chocolate. Stir until melts.

  5. Take it off the heat. Add the rum.

  6. If you want to decorate it, now is the time.

Enjoy! :)
